Insightra Medical was founded in March of 2001. Initially located in the Rockfield Business park, California, the company's focus was on identifying and developing IP protected, novel medical device disposables with a short regulatory path.
In 2007 the company obtained CE mark & FDA clearance to market the Ultra 7Fr Intra-Aortic-Balloon-Catheter, the world’s smallest IAB catheter and established a global sales and distribution network.
Insightra then started to develop a new line of products for hernia repair, entering the general surgery market.
In 2012 FDA clearance was received for the ProFlor Freedom-I (Inguinal Hernia Repair) and in 2015 for the Octomesh Freedom-V (Ventral Hernia Repair) product lines.
Since May 2017 Insightra Medical Inc.is owned by GPB Life Science Holdings LLC a part of GPB Capital Holdings LLC, a New York-based global asset management firm with over $1 billion in assets under management.
